Your information, handled carefully
Effective October 4, 2026. This policy explains how My Funds Advocate LLC ("My Funds Advocate," "we") collects, uses and protects personal information.
Information we collect
- From public records: names, property addresses, case or record numbers, and surplus amounts from court, county and other government records.
- From data providers: current contact information (such as mailing address, phone numbers and email) used to locate former owners and heirs.
- From you: what you share through our forms, by phone, by email, or during a notary visit, including identification and documents needed to file a claim.
- From your browser: basic technical information such as pages visited and device type, used to keep the site working and improve it.
How we use it
- To find people who may be owed surplus funds and tell them about it.
- To answer your questions and schedule notary visits.
- To prepare, file and follow up on claims you authorize.
- To meet legal, tax and recordkeeping requirements.
- To honor do-not-contact requests.
When we share it
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to help with your claim or run our business:
- with the county, clerk, treasurer or court handling the funds
- with the attorney who represents you, and the notary who visits you
- with service providers who work for us (for example mailing, phone, data and hosting services), under obligations to protect it
- when required by law or to protect rights and safety
Sensitive information
We never ask for Social Security, bank or account numbers by phone, text or email. When such information is required to file a claim or receive funds, it is collected in person on the official forms and shared only with the parties who need it.

Security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information and keep it only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law.
